Home again

We returned home early on Thursday morning. Our bathroom renovations were completed around 8pm on Friday evening. At 11pm on Friday evening the phone rang with the news that Edna (Mummy) had been admitted to Hull Royal Infirmary having had a suspected stroke. We packed a bag quickly and drove up to be with her.

We have spent the weekend in Hull, visiting her as often as we were allowed and can report good progress. When we first saw her, at 3am on Saturday morning, the whole of her right side had been left without movement and she had no speech whatsoever. When we said bye to her this morning, she was moving all arms and legs, doing her best to speak but frustrated that the words wouldn't come and was in relatively good humour.

We will post updates here from time to time, for we know that several friends keep a watch on what's happening here. Although we are both back at home now, Monday, I plan to drive back up there on Wednesday, for a couple of days, returning to fulfil commitments at Moreton Show on Saturday and attend a Stuart Singers concert as planned. In the meantime, we are blessed with family and friends who are happy to visit Mummy and support us as much as they can.

As I just printed on a small photo album for Mummy to have with her:

The best things in life aren't things.
