Celebrating our silver wedding

We spent the weekend preceding our Silver Wedding Anniversary in France, since we'd booked tickets for the opera in Compiegne and arranged to meet German friends there. To celebrate, we upgraded from Ibis to Chateau for the night!

We arrived at Les Crayeres, on the edge of Reims during the early afternoon, and having had tea in the beautiful winter garden we sat and watched Charles and Camilla's wedding blessing on BBC World in our suite - the Princesse Louise (and not the Princesse Diana next door!) It seemed like an appropriate way of starting our own small celebration and a good time to exchange similar Georg Jensen boxes! That evening we enjoyed the gourmet menu, complete with 1991 Philipponat Champagne and a 1999 Chateau Grand Corbin Despagne Saint Emilion. Yum!

Les Crayeres is a most beautiful place to be and the Spring sunshine made it all the more attractive. We have uploaded several photographs of our trip to our Smugmug pages.

We came home on "the day itself" to find flowers, cards and presents from dear family and friends - some of whom we were surprised to find had been counting the years. We now look forward to the next 25!
