It's beginning to feel a bit MORE like...
This has been the week of Christmas Concerts, which is always the sign that it's about time we began to gear ourselves up to making/writing/sending our cards, organising a tree and so on. This year, we're looking forward to enjoying the company of a few friends next Sunday lunchtime, which means that we have a clear deadline for being shipshape and Bristol fashion! The cards are arriving thick and fast, which means the Thomases are, as usual, behind the crowd!

The WI Christmas Concerts were terrific this year. Craig Downes, tenor, was in fine voice and Philip Miles, pianist, left the audience breathless following his energetic playing of Percy Grainger's "Dahomey". The WI choir were as good as we've ever heard them, their ranks swelled with some new singers recruited at the Singalong Day, and their voices filled the large hall well. both performances were virtually full, with a total audience of almost 900.
Friday lunchtime, I enjoyed the annual GFWI Christmas lunch for Executive and committee members at Renaissance, Cheltenham. Good company, fine food - but sadly, as I was driving home, no wine!
Both Friday and Saturday evenings this week were taken up with the Stuart Singers annual concerts in Minchinhampton Church, and this year Edward joined the tenor section to boost their number by 20% in number, 50% in sound. He had a warm welcome from everyone, attracting many compliments for his fine singing and good nature. It was undoubtedly proud parent time.
I went to the Saturday concert and enjoyed a more comfortable than usual seat - perching on the corner of a table at the back operating the video camera! The singers were in fine voice and every item was as well sung as ever - certainly no embarrassing disasters and plenty of "lovely moments". But somehow, the programme lacked its usual pizazz and I must say that the pleasure of watching and listening to both my best beloveds was the highlight of the evening.
After the concert, we went chez Sims for drinks and supper. A warm and relaxing way to end the week.
