Sunday morning in Hull

We're in Hull, trying to spend as much time with Edna as we can, whilst recognising how tired she gets after just a short time. So, we come and go as we think best.

Yesterday afternoon, Saturday, we called in before tea and we delighted to find her in good spirits, clearly delighted to see us and looking much like her old self. She could say very little, however, possibly due to her excitement - she smiled, winked and kept firm hold of my hand the whole time. No interest in the football match about to begin though, which was surprising - after two minutes of the pre-match stuff, she picked up the remote and turned it off.

Sensing that she was not only tired, but overwhelmed by our appearance, we decided to let her settle for a while, till we'd been to have something to eat, so we explained we would come back soon. When we got back around 7pm, she was in bed, very sleepy and we stayed only minutes. It appears that it had been a busy day with several visitors and a couple of trips out into the garden for some fresh air too. I felt sad we hadn't stayed longer with her on our first visit.

We plan to go to St Mary's around 11am this morning, before lunch. We'll then go again in the early afternoon and then drive back to Gloucestershire straight from there.

She has so many cards, letters, flowers from her good friends, all of which have been looked through repeatedly. You kind thoughts are so very much appreciated - thank you.
