When she's up, we're up....

We're in Hull again, this visit having been originally planned for a case meeting with staff at St Mary's to discuss Edna's progress and where we go next. Then, last week, in the midst of her desperate pleas to go home and in spite of her confusion and anxiety, tentative plans for a short visit were made for tomorrow - though all of these plans were dismissed following Edna's admission to Castle Hill hospital last Friday for tests.

Whilst in hospital, it appears that she has had another couple of TIAs and although the staff have assured us that Edna is calm and comfortable, we drove up here this afternoon fearing the worst. So, when we walked into her room to find her sitting smiling and clearly quite comforable and relaxed you can imagine the relief.

Tonight, I can report that she is in good spirits, is chatty and communicating more easily than she has done for quite some time, and that her sense of humour has returned. We spent a happy hour in the company of the "old Edna" and are looking forward to returning tomorrow morning for a couple of hours before we travel back down the M1 again to Tewkesbury for our book launch party. It appears that Edna may well remain in Castle Hill hospital for another couple of days, before - we hope - returning to St Mary's to continue her rehabilitation.
